At our Shabbat Dinner, we will be capturing the essence of Jewish cuisine with our wonderful Cantor Shana and kitchen assistants. They will take a historical journey through Jewish cuisine, from the Middle East, to Europe, North Africa, the Americas, and beyond.
Have a favorite “Jewish” food?
We are asking you for easy Jewish food requests and recipes for classic kosher dishes that can be batch cooked. We are particularly interested in Jewish dishes that those who have dietary restrictions can enjoy such as vegetarian and gluten-free recipes. Please submit your requests and preferably favorite recipe(s) to them by May 8, 2023 which will be a hard cut off so they can make every effort to include your favorite dishes in the Shabbat meal. We look forward to hopefully highlighting one of your favorites!

6:30 PM – 9:30 PM

Indulge your senses with the unique flavors and aromas of kosher wines with Jewish Young Community at MJCBY for our first exclusive Wine Tasting and Pairing Class!

Join us for a special tasting event featuring top-quality wines from a variety of prestigious wine regions, paired with delicious bites and expert guidance from our guest sommelier, Adam Carmer. Discover the rich history and culture behind each wine and immerse yourself in its vibrant world. Identify key components of wine and explore how to pair with the right food to make your next dinner a success!

Dr. Adam Carmer is an instructor in the School of Hospitality & Tourism Management. He received an MS Degree in Hotel Administration from UNLV and an Ed.D. from American College of Education. Knighted in 2014 in Belgium for his body of work focusing on education, Dr. Carmer thereby earned the title of Sir. Adam was honored as the 2013 teacher of the year in the William F. Harrah College of Hotel Administration at UNLV where he has spent the last 20 years building students knowledge, specifically in the area of alcoholic beverages. In the mid 1990’s Adam became Steve Wynn’s first Hotel Sommelier and Director of Restaurants.

Looking to add value to Las Vegas and the world he followed his entrepreneurial conscience and opened his own food and beverage establishments. After establishing the first craft beer bar in Las Vegas in 2002 with the Freakin Frog, Sir Adam went on to open the first whiskey-only bar in the USA, The Whiskey Attic. While operating these venues and continuing his research in alcoholic beverages he developed a number of philosophies and systems. In 2008, Sir Adam Carmer developed a new method of tasting alcoholic beverages. This new discovery of a more advanced hierarchy of sensory perception led to classes, seminars, speeches and a loyal following of people using this new technique. Officially named the Carmer Spirits Tasting Enhancement Method, it more commonly goes by the moniker of CSTEM. Currently Adam spends his time teaching, consulting, judging and writing about alcoholic beverages, sensory perception and philosophies that influence consumer behavior.
