New does not have to mean alone

Know someone before you arrive.

A first-event host can text you, meet near the entrance, and introduce you to two people. No membership, prior experience, or single definition of Jewish life is required.

NEW TO JYC

A Jewish community designed to feel easy to enter.

JYC brings Jewish adults ages 21–39 together across Northern and Central New Jersey. Some people arrive after moving to the area. Others have lived here for years and want more Jewish connection, new friendships, or simply something meaningful to do.

You do not need synagogue membership, Hebrew knowledge, or a particular level of observance. You may come alone, with a friend, or with a partner. The goal is not to fit a mold—it is to meet people naturally and find experiences you want to return to.

Start with the experience that feels right.

Shabbat dinners

Share a Friday-night meal in a welcoming setting. Event pages explain the schedule, registration, food, and what to expect. Explore Shabbat dinners.

Social events

Meet people through outings, meals, cultural experiences, games, and seasonal activities across New Jersey. Explore social events.

Learning and service

Join accessible Jewish conversations or take part in community-service experiences without assuming prior knowledge. Explore learning or community service.

Coming alone is normal.

You will not be the only person walking into a JYC event without already knowing everyone. Before you register, read the event page for audience, time, general location, price, and registration details. If something you need is not listed—such as accessibility or dietary information—contact JYC before the event.

A simple first step

  1. Choose a current event that fits your interests.
  2. Read the practical details and follow the event’s registration link.
  3. Review what to expect at your first JYC event.
  4. Join the JYC list so future plans come to you.
