Stellar Night Out at NJAA Observatory

Join the Jewish Young Community (JYC) for an extraordinary night of stargazing and astronomy in partnership with the New Jersey Astronomical Association (NJAA)!

Event Details:

  • Time: 8:15 PM – 10:30 PM
  • Location: NJAA Observatory, Voorhees State Park, Glen Gardner, NJ

At this event, you’ll get the chance to observe celestial wonders through the largest public telescope in New Jersey, participate in an engaging astronomy talk, and connect with fellow young professionals. This event is perfect for anyone who enjoys exploring the cosmos and learning more about the science of astronomy.

Event Highlights:

  • Guided stargazing using professional telescopes
  • Astronomy talk hosted by NJAA experts
  • Opportunity to network with fellow young professionals

No fees are required for this event, but donations are always appreciated to support the NJAA’s mission to “Educate Everyone About the Science of Astronomy.”

Join us for a special Sukkot Shabbat under the stars! Experience the joy of dining in the Sukkah as we celebrate the festival of Sukkot. This evening will focus on themes of community, gratitude, and connection, as we reflect on the blessings of the harvest season.

High Holiday Services 5785 Exclusive Offers!

Welcome to the High Holy Days 5785 (2024-2025)

As the New Year 5785 approaches, we are excited to gather for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. Rosh Hashanah begins on Wednesday evening, October 2. Below are several options for observing the High Holy Days at our partner synagogues, each offering unique accommodations and pricing.

1. Congregation B’nai Tikvah: 

We are excited to announce that Congregation B’nai Tikvah warmly invites JYC members to attend High Holiday services as their guests, free of charge! To register, simply email jycnewjersey@gmail.com and provide your:

We will handle the rest. The deadline for registration is Wednesday, September 25, so be sure to sign up soon to reserve your spot.

2. MJCBY:

JYC members can access Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur services for just $180. Separate services are $28 each, and the Mincha, Neilah, and Break Fast is $25. Registration is required on ShulCloud to take advantage of these discounts. You must register to join them in-person. Click here for more information:

3. Congregation Beth Hatikvah:

Join them for High Holiday services at a discounted rate: $36 for ages 19-36, $95 for ages 37 and up. Kids under 18 attend for free! If financial hardship arises, contact their Membership Co-Chairs, Lisa or Cindy, for assistance. Zoom services are also available with a suggested $18 donation. Please Click here to make a donation.

Pray with them on Yom Kippur and honor our departed loved ones at Yizkor, then join them at their Community Break-the-Fast. You must register to join them in-person or on Zoom. Click here for more information.

4. Temple Sholom:

Anyone 30 and under can attend High Holiday services for free! Simply call the synagogue ahead to provide your name. If you’re over 30, explore guest ticket options via the Jewish Federation, which offers free tickets for one year to those new to the area or facing financial need. 5. Congregation Agudath Israel:


Congregation Agudath Israel warmly welcomes JYC members to attend High Holiday services at no charge! While there is no required fee, a donation is welcomed at your discretion. If you’re interested in joining their services, please contact Debra Lurie at dlurie@agudath.org by October 1 and mention that you are with JYC.

September Shabbat Dinner in Morris County

Join us for a memorable Shabbat dinner with MJCBY on Friday, 17 Elul 5784 / September 20, 2024, where we will delve into the powerful messages of Parshat Ki Tavo. The evening will begin with Shabbat service and a candle lighting, followed by a delicious meal.
