May Shabbat Dinner with MJCBY: Honoring Memory, Celebrating Independence

Embracing the Spectrum: From Yom HaZikaron to Yom HaAtzmaut

Jewish Young Community (JYC) – New Jersey, together with the Morristown Jewish Center, extends a heartfelt invitation to our May Shabbat Dinner. This gathering is set against the backdrop of two significant Israeli observances: Yom HaZikaron, Israel’s Memorial Day, and Yom HaAtzmaut, Israel’s Independence Day. Our evening is a journey from solemn remembrance to vibrant celebration, reflecting the profound duality of the Israeli experience.

OneTable Registration is required by May 29th: first 30 spots free on OneTable, $18 after.

An Evening of Reflection and Celebration

Date: Friday, May 31th

  • 6:15PM: Shabbat Service – A poignant service remembering those who have sacrificed for Israel’s existence and reflecting on the gift of independence.
  • 7:15PM: Dinner – A meal curated by Cantor Shana, to celebrate Yom HaAtzmaut.

This event is specially designed for young adults in their 20s, 30s, and 40s eager to connect more deeply with Jewish heritage.

From Memory to Independence

Join us as we honor Yom HaZikaron’s solemnity and embrace Yom HaAtzmaut’s joy. Through shared stories, songs, and rituals, we’ll explore the resilience and triumphs of the Jewish people. This evening is an opportunity to acknowledge our past’s sorrows while celebrating our nation’s freedom and achievements.

Location: Morristown Jewish Center, 177 Speedwell Ave, Morristown, NJ 07960.
Additional Parking: Available along Sussex Ave and in the municipal lot at 21 Sussex Ave.

An Invitation to Reflect, Celebrate, and Connect

As we gather this May, let’s honor the memories of those who have fallen and celebrate the joy of Israel’s independence.
