Friday Night Together
A familiar welcome. A different table. A reason to come back.
JYC’s recurring Shabbat gathering series for Jewish adults ages 21–39. Come solo or with a friend; each invitation has its own date, place, hosts and Shabbat practice.

Dates are announced individually; this is not a promise of a gathering every Friday. Review each invitation’s owner notes and linked registration page before paying or traveling.

The welcome plan
Your first ten minutes, at your pace.
- Know who to look for. Before traveling, ask the event hosts to confirm your entrance, meeting point and day-of contact.
- Start with a hello. On arrival, tell a named host that it is your first visit. Ask for one or two introductions if you would like them; you can also settle in quietly.
- Join the table your way. Ask what is happening next and where to sit. No prior Shabbat knowledge or public personal story is required.
This is the shared welcome plan. A specific introduction, meeting point or accommodation is arranged only when a host confirms it with you.

FICTIONAL EXAMPLE · NOT TRAVEL INSTRUCTIONS
The venue, entrance and arrangements below are invented examples. Do not use them to travel to a JYC event. For your invitation, ask the named hosts to confirm each detail before RSVP or travel.
- Meeting point and day-of contact
- Example: Alex Example, a fictional host, waits inside Door B beside the welcome table. Real host, time and contact: [pending confirmation].
- Entrance and step-free route
- Example: a level side entrance leads to the dining room. Actual entrance, door width, steps, lift and restroom route: [venue check pending].
- Parking and public transport
- Example: a signed visitor area and a bus stop within a short walk. Actual parking rules, route, stop, last service and walking path: [pending check]. Travel time varies by your starting point and county.
- Meal and allergy arrangements
- Example: a guest asks about an ingredient before registering; the host replies with what can be provided. Actual menu, preparation limits and individual arrangement: [host confirmation pending].
- Dress, phones and photography
- Example: comfortable clothes; a host explains the venue’s phone practice and asks separately before any identifiable photo. Actual event practice: read the invitation and confirm any exception with the host.
- Cost and registration
- Read the invitation’s conditional admission offer. OneTable controls live availability, the checkout amount and host-approved confirmation. These examples do not reserve a seat or establish remaining free places.
- Evidence and review
- [Venue/host source, named reviewer, date checked and approved public wording — pending]. Specific accommodation requests stay private.

One ritual. Local invitations.
This season’s published Friday Night Together dates are listed above with their own county, hosts and admission. Choose the location and travel that work for you; North and Central New Jersey is not one convenient journey for everyone.
The purpose is simple: share a Jewish meal, meet people at your pace and leave knowing where the next invitation is. An event’s current page controls its plan; a forming group remains an expression of interest.

PLANNING EXAMPLE · NO SESSION ANNOUNCED
What makes a new place feel like community?
Example format: one hosted question, a 30-minute conversation, space to pass, and a closing invitation. Alex Example (fictional) facilitates; Jamie Example (fictional) is backup and owns an optional follow-up with one agreed next step.
Before publication, Nathan and Daniel must confirm a real host and backup, audience, county, date, venue, access route, capacity and any costs. A workplace or Jewish ERG partner identifies its owner, resources and guest-data responsibilities; MJCBY approves any financial commitment. No dialogue, service or benefit event is open through this example.
An optional learning prompt could connect one tradition from the meal with its history and what it means to a participant today. Stories are offered by choice, recorded only with specific permission and reviewed before publication.
Groups are forming: one pilot only after a named host, backup, six opted-in guests, first date, rhythm and practical readiness checks.
Keep the connection going.
Before leaving, ask your hosts about the next published invitation. Return whenever a date fits. There are no guest rankings, membership levels or priority places for frequent attendance or giving.
Choose future invitations by email · Main JYC list, usually no more than twice a month; weekly email is a separate option. Signing up does not register you for a dinner.
A record after each gathering
A dated listing records the announced plan. It does not prove that an event occurred or who attended. Guest accounts are published only with reviewed evidence, dated permission and a named reviewer.
The current series invitations will move here after their dates. Browse earlier JYC listings in the wider event archive.
