JYC Event Information Standard

This is JYC’s owned standard for event information. Nathan Vaisbort is the accountable knowledge owner. The current event archive and each linked JYC event page are the authoritative records used by the Community Concierge.

Authoritative event facts

  • The named event owner approves JYC’s published plan: date, time, public venue, eligibility, arrival, accessibility, photography, food and kashrut, dress, event contact, registration deadline and advertised admission offer. Nathan Vaisbort maintains the owned knowledge record and reconciles corrections.
  • Use only the registration provider linked from the current JYC listing. The provider controls remaining places, the live amount due and fees, payment receipts, transaction-specific cancellation or refund terms and each guest’s registration status. For OneTable dinners, the hosts approve requests in OneTable; OneTable’s host-approved confirmation establishes a reserved place and supplies any private arrival instructions.
  • Before promotion, the named event owner should complete the documented essential-fact review below. “Confirmed” describes the scheduled event; it does not establish a completed owner review or a confirmed guest registration. Existing records with only a check date remain pending until a named, scoped review is recorded.
  • If JYC and the linked provider disagree, or a provider page does not load its details, the disputed field is not confirmed. Contact the event owner before paying or traveling. JYC must reconcile its listing with the provider; the concierge does not choose a convenient answer or promise available free seats.

Food, kashrut, and dress

JYC uses only the exact event-specific language approved on the current event listing. JYC does not infer a kosher standard from the venue, organizer, menu, or a past event, and does not infer a dress code. When the current listing does not say, the answer is “not confirmed”; the visitor is referred to the event contact.

Human-only questions

The Community Concierge does not provide pastoral care, emergency or security guidance, counseling, or individualized religious rulings. It refuses those requests and provides JYC’s human contact or private community-concern path. Immediate danger should be directed to 911 or venue staff.

What counts as a registration

A JYC host request, mailing-list signup, invitation link, calendar download, RSVP click or pending seat request is not a registration. Count a registration only when the linked platform records host approval or confirmed admission for the matching event and guest. Keep the provider reference, event, confirmation status and checked timestamp privately; remove cancelled or declined records from confirmed totals. Registration and verified attendance are separate measures.

Response and subscription handoffs

Nathan Vaisbort and Daniel Ackerman cover the JYC response queue. Each new request has a primary and backup. The target for first-event host support is one business day (Monday–Friday); an automatic receipt confirms a support request, not a seat. If a receipt or reply does not arrive, contact jycnewjersey@gmail.com. Mail accepted by a sending service does not by itself establish inbox delivery.

Sender handles the main JYC list and new optional weekly event-email signups in separate subscriber groups. Each signup selects only its own group; joining the main list does not select weekly email. Follow any confirmation Sender sends. A Sender email unsubscribe stops all JYC newsletter emails; removing only the weekly group preserves main-list membership. Ask JYC for help changing that preference. Browser notifications are separate and can be removed in the browser. Older weekly-digest messages retain their original confirmation and removal paths; existing subscriptions are not silently moved between services. No email signup registers a guest for an event. Owners record controlled receipt, assignment, actual response-time, confirmation, group-preference and removal checks in JYC Operations before calling these handoffs operationally verified.

Event ownership and dated checks

Each event record identifies its JYC record owner, public host or contact names and named organization or venue. A public host name describes the welcome or event role; Nathan Vaisbort remains accountable for maintaining JYC’s knowledge record. Venue identification alone does not establish a co-hosting agreement or a religious approval.

A completed fact check names the reviewer and exact check time. The reviewer records the source references and what was reconciled privately, then checks the schedule and deadline, public location and privacy rule, advertised admission, audience, registration and confirmation instructions, arrival and accommodation contact routes, and concrete food, dress and photography statements. Unavailable or conflicting facts stay “not confirmed.” An automated link check or saved page does not meet this review test.

Upcoming-event reviews older than seven days need another check. Changes to essential event details invalidate the earlier review. Recheck before promoting an invitation and after any material update. Previous date-only checks retain their historical date but do not imply a named reviewer or a documented scope. The public review panel exposes missing and stale checks; its timestamp never promises remaining free seats, a fulfilled accommodation or a reserved place.

To report an error, send the event page and disputed field to jycnewjersey@gmail.com. The record owner reconciles the field with the host and linked provider, updates the record and completes a fresh review. Private arrival instructions, guest details and source correspondence stay private.

From a listing to an account of what happened

The event archive preserves what JYC listed for a date. A past listing is not proof that the gathering occurred, that a person attended or that a particular outcome followed. Provider-confirmed registration, verified attendance and a guest’s personal account are separate records.

Public community accounts require a specific past-event reference, evidence checked by staff, dated permission for the exact text and attribution, and a named reviewer with a review date. Source and permission evidence stay private. Edited text, attribution, event references or permission require a new review. A story describes the consenting person’s experience; it is not an attendance count or a claim about every guest. Corrections and withdrawal remain available through Community Stories.

Conditions for any annual community recognition

JYC has not launched an annual community award or announced recipients through this process. Reliable event records come first. Any future annual thank-you must publish its review period, criteria, responsible selectors and announcement date before accepting nominations or selecting recipients.

  • Criteria: a specific, documented contribution to welcoming Jewish adults in New Jersey, enabling participation, shared learning or community service, linked to reviewed event or activity evidence. A title, attendance volume or donation alone is not a qualifying contribution.
  • Selection responsibility: Nathan Vaisbort and Daniel Ackerman jointly review the same published criteria and record the reasons privately. A selector with a personal, financial or organizational conflict recuses. Publish a named independent replacement before proceeding; if an independent review cannot be arranged, defer selection.
  • Consent: nominees remain private. Before any announcement, obtain specific permission for the recipient’s name, wording, story and each identifiable image. People may decline recognition or withdraw public display without affecting participation.
  • Published result: explain the concrete contribution, the reviewed evidence it draws on, the selection responsibility and review date. Publish only consented details and retain a dated record of corrections.
  • Participation: this is a small community thank-you, not a ranking of guests or a condition of belonging. It does not create membership, priority registration, exclusive access or a paid benefit. Optional donor/supporter acknowledgments remain separate from community recognition.
